ASUU Strike Must Come To An End Today, President Jonathan Insists

President Goodluck Jonathan who is currently having a meeting with leaders of the academic staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Aso Villa, Abuja to find a way of resolving the lingering strike embarked upon four months ago by Nigerian University Lecturers.

The meeting which started at about 2:30pm had in attendance, President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, the secretary to the government of the federation, ministers of education and Labour.

The ASUU representatives presently at the meeting are the Chairman of ASUU, Dr Fagge and

 other members of the executive of the Union, also in attendance is the President of Nigerian 

Labour Congress, Mallam Abdulwaheed Omar. 

The Nigerian president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan while welcoming the ASUU leaders to the 

crucial meeting a few hours ago said in his words ‘ I hope this strike will end today. Our 

children have suffered enough. We must find a solution’. 

Meanwhile, it has lately been reported that, President Jonathan has insisted during the 

meeting that the four month old ASUU strike must come to an end tonight.
