Finally, Nigerian Film & Video Censors Board approves 'Half of A Yellow Sun'

The Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB has yesterday, Friday 4th of July 2014, finally approved the movie 'Half of a Yellow Sun' for viewing and wide release.

The board who had earlier, delayed the release of the movie since April, considering the current security situation in Nigeria and claiming the movie, which is based on a novel of same name on the Nigerian civil war, could ignite the light of violence in the country.

The movie, whose novel was written by Chimamanda Adichie, was classified 18 and above by the censor’s board. The classification was announced yesterday evening alongside over 70 other Nollywood movies. It came at a time the producers of Half Of A Yellow Sun already enlisted it for online viewing in the United States of America.

According to the censor’s board Corporate Affairs representative, Caesar Kagho, “all approved movies fulfilled the regulatory conditions stipulated by the NFVCB”.
