Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo shutdown over students' protest

Authorities of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo (RUGIPO) in Onodo state have ordered the students of the institution to embark on two weeks break following the students protest yesterday over the hike of their school fees.

According to latest reports by Daily Post, the new school fees arrangement shows that full time students who are indigenes are expected to pay over N60,000, non-indigenes to pay over 70,000, while newly admitted students are expected to pay over 90,000.

The students were equally upset over the new policy introduced by the management that students who are yet to pay their school fees would not be allowed to sit for the newly introduced unified test.

However, the Rector, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, while speaking with reporters said the students were sent home just to prevent breakdown of law and order.

Ajibefun assured that the management team would sit with the students over their demands and find possible ways to resolve the disagreement.

But, can someone tell me what's all this ish of increasing school fees in almost all our Nigerian higher institutions.. dem no wan make we go school again???
