SERAP, students sue Unilag and JAMB to court over new policy

After several protests which had seemed futile, some of the candidates affected by the newly introduced JAMB policy have taken the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the prestigious University of Lagos, Unilag to the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The applicants alleged that, JAMB Registrar Prof. Dibu Ojerinde issued a directive preventing Unilag from allowing them to participate in the 2015/2016 Unilag Post UTME exercise even after scoring above 180 JAMB cut-off marks for Universities. The JAMB registrar was also accused of sending the names of candidates with less than 250 marks to institutions they did not chose.

In their ex parte application moved before Justice Mohammed Idris, the applicants prayed for leave to apply for an order of mandamus compelling UNILAG to sell the post-UTME forms to them.
