Osun state students harass deputy governor, block main gate of state secretariat

Students in Osun state tertiary institutions, today Monday 21st of September held hostage the deputy governor of the state, Otunba Mrs Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, at the State Secretariat, in Osogbo.

Before the incident, the students had marched to the secretariat to protest against the prolonged strike.Their lecturers have been on an indefinite strike for over three months ago, over unpaid salaries and other reasons.

Majority of the students are from Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke; Colleges of Education in Ila and Ilesa.


After they arrived at the main gate of the state secretariat, they barricaded the entry points.
Shortly after, the Deputy Governor, was driven to the secretariat but the students prevented her convoy from entering the premises.

Some of the students were said to have laid on the ground in front of her car while some other, laid behind the car, hence, making it impossible for the vehicle of the deputy governor to enter the premises or retreat.
