Meet Nigeria's first ever elected female governor Aisha Alhassan

Senator Aisha Alhassan has emerged the first ever elected female governor in Nigeria after she was declared as the rightful winner of the April 11, 2015 governorship elections in Taraba State by a tribunal judgment in the state.

The Taraba Governorship Election Petition Tribunal ruled on Saturday, November 7, that Alhassan had won the polls and ordered Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to vacate the position immediately.

Aisha was part of the ministerial nominees confirmed recently before the tribunal's ruling. She was also the first female Attorney General of Taraba State in 1997 among her many great achievements.
