South Africa's bourse suspends trading in MTN shares

The South African bourse has reportedly, suspends trading in African telecommunication giant, MTN shares. A senior official Peter Redman of the exchange’s surveillance department confirmed it today.

He said: “Yes, trading in MTN shares has been suspended and the information was broadcast across the trading platform”.

MTN was last week fined 1.04 trillion naira by Nigerian authorities for failure to cut off unregistered users, which has been pleaded to be paid in staggered payment after series of meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
