Imo state workers turn to beggars to survive, following unpaid salaries

Going by claims in the media, civil servants in Imo State said most of them have turned to beggars in order to be able to survive.

They claim the State Government has not paid their salaries since January, 2016 and they have been borrowing money to go to work since then.

Some said since their lenders have refused to lend them transport fare anymore, they have been unable to go to work every.

Others claim, they have been facing wrath of their landlords for their inability to pay rents. They also said they have been unable to properly feed their children, since they have no other source of income.
