The Lagos State Government yesterday, shut down 70 churches, 20 mosques and about 11 hotels, club houses and beer parlours in a move to reduce noise in the state.

Court delivers decision on Buhari’s disqualification as Nigerian president

Following a motion for discontinuance filed by Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe of the suit seeking Muhammadu Buhari’s disqualification, the court has struck out a case, The Cable reports.

Adeniyi Ademola, justice of the federal high court, delivered ruling on suit challenging the veracity of the academic credentials of the president on June 30, in Abuja. The justice held that by “section 50(2) of the federal high court civil procedure rules the matter is hereby struck out.” Earlier, ‎Justice Ademola had postponed the case indefinitely.

Barack Obama blasts Donald Trump in Canada

UK jails Nigerian accountant/pastor Sam Kayode 9 years over £4.1 million fraud

A Nigerian, who works as a school accountant in the United Kingdom, was on Friday given a 9-year jail term by a Woolwich Court after he was convicted of stealing about £4.1 million of school funds.
Dailymail reports that the vast sum of money was missing from the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation Trust in South London.

Identified as Sam Kayode, the 59-year old was also said to be a part-time pastor.

Nurses begin indefinite strike in LUTH

Nurses and Midwives at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, on Friday began an indefinite strike.

The nurses and midwives under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) are protesting what they called stagnation, non-payment of salary and inadequate facilities.

'It's all lies!' Goalkeeper David De Gea denies forcing girl to have sex with teammates

According to the girl, who revealed in court papers in a trial against a child pornography kingpin popularly known in Spain as Torbe, Spain and Man United's goalkeeper, David De Gea forced her and another girl to have sex with two Under-21 internationals (Muniain and Isco ) in 2012.
