Jennifer Lopez shares her beauty and body confidence secrets: 'Feeling beautiful is an attitude'

The sexy singer in a recent interview with UK Mirror talks about her workout regime and how to feel beautiful inside and out. Enjoy!

We are obsessed with Jennifer Lopez, not least for her banging body and the fact she hasn’t aged in 20 years (she’s 47!). She’s given us some of her secrets to mark the launch of her BodyLab nutrition range, which she must tuck into when she’s not drinking from the fountain of eternal youth…

What beauty advice would you give your teenage self?

Love yourself! Stop spending so much time worrying about what others think, because when you love yourself and you’re happy, that is reflected in your whole body, and that’s what makes you truly beautiful. And use a good moisturiser!

How important is working out?

I am 100% convinced working out is part of what makes me so happy. Taking the time to move my body and do something that’s so good for me is key to my happiness. And I believe when you take care of yourself and work to stay healthy, you’re better able to take care of those you love, so working out is definitely a priority for me.

When you’re feeling low, how do you pick yourself up?

When my confidence is lagging I dance. There’s something about seeing what my body is capable of and feeling the endorphin rush that comes with a good dance session that really helps boost my confidence and my mood. I still consider myself a dancer at heart, and I love it.

How do you stick to eating healthily when friends want to go out for dinner?

I’m a social person and love spending time with friends and family, so I try to make healthy choices when we go out. I’ll have a salad or fish with veggies, and I make sure to drink lots of water throughout the meal.

How do you shape up quickly for a holiday?

When I want to be bikini ready, my secret is protein shakes. I’ll have a BodyLab TastyShake in the morning, a healthy lunch, then another protein shake for dinner. When you’re dieting, you’re always hungriest at night, so having calorie-smart protein can help kill night-time cravings.

What would you say to people who are always comparing themselves to others?

It’s hard to avoid comparing yourself to others, and I’ve definitely been guilty of it myself. I remember thinking I wasn’t thin enough because I had curves. But I’ve learned that being healthy and feeling great aren’t about having one specific body type, it’s a completely individual thing.

Feeling beautiful is an attitude, and we should all look for the beautiful things we love about ourselves, regardless of how our bodies compare to someone else.
