Family of pregnant British woman found dead in Ghana, hope inquest finds cause of her death

An inquest is to open into the mysterious death of a pregnant British woman, Charmain Spiers who was found dead in a bath in Ghana. Charmain Speirs, 41, whose married name was Charmain Adusah, was found lifeless in the bathroom of her hotel room in the city of Koforidua in March 2015.

Her husband, Eric Adusah, who had also been staying at the Mac-Dic Royal Plaza Hotel, was charged with her murder but the case against him collapsed last year due to a lack of evidence.

A post-mortem examination in Ghana concluded that Ms Speirs died of a heroin overdose but her family dispute this. An inquest into her death is expected to be heard at Essex Coroner's Court in Chelmsford today.
