Robbers attack NAN office in Jos

Journalists in Plateau state were left in shock after a band of armed robbers attacked the zonal office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The daredevil criminals struck in the early hours of Thursday morning, broke all the offices and carted away valuables.

The robbers gained access to the office by scaling the fence at around 3.30 a.m. They then tied the security man on duty before carrying out their nefarious operations. NAN reports that among the items stolen were its official camera, a Nikon D300, three HP laptops, two digital cameras, a voice recorder and many other personal effects of some staff.

The Zonal Manager, Ephraims Sheyin, described it as “very shocking”. “It is very sad and shocking; very devastating, really,’’ Mr. Sheyin said. The matter was reported to the Anglo-Jos Police Division which swiftly sent an investigating officer to the scene.
