Doctor Udeh, had formally filed for divorce , accusing his wife of threatening his life, lack of respect, aborting of pregnancy , consequently, the love he once professed to have for her dwindled and no longer able to sustain their young marriage.
Giving his evidence in the court, the doctor insisted he wants the marriage severed at all cost irrespective of the fact that his marriage is barely two years old and has a two months old baby at his mercies, Dr. Stephen told the members of the court and all present that his wife is adulterous, troublesome and a threat to his life.
“After we got married; my mother-in-law came to my office and rained abuses on me without any justifiable reasons. She embarrassed me so much and ended up creating a scene, calling me impotent, womanizer, and all sorts of dirty names in the presence of my staff. As a result, my wife started misbehaving. She was always telling me that I’m not a real man, that I can’t put a woman in a family way just the same thing her mother accused me of.
Aside that, she was always deserting her matrimonial home to an unknown destination without my consent. On two occasions, she came back from her hide-out and told me she’s pregnant.
Few months after, she would feign pains in her tummy, and then she would start bleeding.
It has happened on two occasions and I kept suspecting her. The first pregnancy that she lost, she told me that her mother’s friend touched her stomach and shortly after that she felt a sharp pain, then the bleeding started.
This baby that she had two months ago, I am still contesting her paternity because my wife always gets pregnant whenever she goes back to campus in Uniben. I had my suspicions but I let it lie low until a test is done to that effect. Moreover, my wife and her mother labeled me impotent and a womanizer, so I am in doubt of how her three different pregnancies came to be,” he lamented.
Shedding more lights on the threat to his life, the Nkai-bende of Abia state born father of one, revealed that his life is no longer safe with his wife as she has in many occasions given him poisonous food to eat. And as a result, he has been purging and passing out blood from his anus. Several medical checks and tests have been run on him to ascertain the cause of his ailment, but so far, the cause of the blood from his down region has not been ascertained.
“I started suspecting foul play when she served me my dinner one fateful night in a particular food flask, but refused to eat with me. I ate a bit and went to sleep, early the next morning; she hurriedly threw the remainder away. Then I started finding it difficult to defecate and when I do, Instead of faeces, I excrete blood. I confronted her but she denied ever having a hand on my predicament.
So, I stopped eating her meals and also distanced myself from her. But she was persistent, she comes to my hospital to fight me, cause disorder and chaos amongst the staff and patients. I have once reported her to the police for daring to break into my office to cater away my valuables in my absence. I can no longer condone her excessive, so I ran to court for succor and the formal dissolution of our absurd union,” he concluded.
Meanwhile it was a twist of tale when Mrs. Amarachi was summoned to the evidence box. The embattled mother of one and a student of Uniben (University of Benin) opened Can of worms of her estranged husband.
Clearing the issue of her callously terminating the fetus in her womb, Amarachi squealed that her husband gave her drugs and injection that resulted to the undue termination of the seed growing her womb. She also revealed to the court that she had on several occasions caught her husband right inside his office having sex with one of his patients and that it is no longer news to the nurses and staff in his hospital that he is a womanizer; he sleeps with his staff members and patients.
That notwithstanding she loves him and wouldn’t want the marriage severed for the sake of their little daughter. To top it all, she claimed her husband is married to another woman but because they couldn’t have a child, he threw her out his house before bringing her in.
“I am equally tired of this marriage but for the sake of our little daughter, I want it cemented and love brought back. I and my family members have spoken and pleaded to him on several occasions to let bygones be bygones, but he was adamant and very disrespectful to them.
The age difference between us is quite much, yet he brought me out from my father’s house and want to abandon me in the middle of nowhere with a six months baby, my half way education, coupled with the shame and despise attached to a divorcee.
I implore the court to restore the lost love and peace between us and give us another chance to mend ways.
