How to get your Tax Identification Number (TIN) for free

One of the popular words on the lips of every Nigerian right now is 'How do I get my tax identification number?'

As a result of the recently signed Finance Bill which some parts entails that 'Without your Tax Identification Number (TIN), you can't operate your individual bank account.

Anyway, this post is to guide you on how to get your Tax Identification Number (TIN) in a very simple step. Let me quickly add that it is totally free, you don't have to pay a dime to get your TIN.

  1. To register/verify your Tax identification Number, go to
  2. Select your date of birth
  3. Select your search criteria [Options are BVN/NIN/CAC No, Tax Identification number, Registered No]
  4. If you select the BVN or phone number option, type it. 
  5. Click on the Captcha and search. 

You should get the following information; TIN, Taxpayer's Name, Tax payer phone no, Taxpayer Authority etc.
